WITCHSORROW, DRIPBACK & BATTALION FOR BLOODSTOCK’S SOPHIE STAGE
BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR has announced a further three acts for the SOPHIE stage at this years festival.Returning to CATTON HALL, WITCHSORROW threaten the British summer time with downtuned doom and gloom that echoes metal greats such as St Vitus, Candlemass and Trouble. Says mainman Necro Skull:
“We are truly honoured to be returning to cast a shadow over Bloodstock once more. We promise you total doom annihilation, a celebration for the damned as the end of the world looms at the end of this wretched annum. To be in the company of such excellent bands as Watain, Alice Cooper, Orange Goblin, Grand Magus and Winterfylleth is a grand thing indeed. God curse us, every one!”
Returning for the second year in a row, London loud-louts DRIPBACK take a break from the studio to come back to the SOPHIE stage with their seething mix of hardcore and death metal.
“For us it’s all about being intense in tents, so this really is the perfect festival slot for Dripback. We’re all so buzzing about playing with CROWBAR, HATEBREED, TESTAMENT and all the other awesome bands, this really is the best festival.”
Finally, Swiss thrashers BATTALION make their UK debut at BLOODSTOCK. The Thrash Maniacs check in to say:

UK based symphonic rockers Winter In Eden have been added to the bill of CAMBRIDGE ROCKS 2012, being given the main support slot to Kyrbgrinder, on the Classic Rock Society Stage, on Friday August 3rd. This news comes in the wake of the cancellation of the Spring Edition of the festival where the band were due to play. Also, the band has confirmed a show for Saturday 19th May with Crimson Sky, at the Sea Mills Community Centre, Sunny Hill, Bristol, BS9 2NQ They have also landed the support slot to Sarah Jezebel Deva at Yardbirds in Grimsby, this Sunday, May 20th. Internet has effectively worn down the old dinosaurs in the music industry, it’s time to embrace the new technology instead of trying to get the old days back.
This is the reason why CONFIDENCE will not release our material on a traditional label or on physical media. Instead, we will use the digital channels that exists today. And why release a full length album where half of the songs are poorly produced because of the very slim budget todays record companies can offer, when you can release songs whenever you want, when they are done, through digital channels ?
As with our music, we will go our own way as it comes to releasing songs. Each digital release will contain four or five songs, with at least two releases a year. Our fans will always be able to enjoy new and fresh CONFIDENCE songs.”

CONFIDENCE was born from the remnants of ideas, songs and bands which never really got to spread their wings. When they started things off in a studio somewhere in Sweden, they didn’t know what would come out of it, but they had a vision of making something passionate, true and beautiful.
They had all seen the decay or the Rock and Metal scene, the repetition of well-tried concepts and song-writing. Endless repetition, one album after another with a plastic soul-less sound and the somewhat peculiar idea that if you sound exactly like the bands that actually made it, there would be a golden record deal and fame in return.
With this in mind, they started to create their music and sound, trying to capture the emotion and feelings of each concept that came to them. Lyrics and vocals were written with the sole intention to enhance the concept and emotion of the songs, and music was written to enhance the vocals and lyrics. When recording, takes were selected because they said something, not because they were perfectly performed.
It took them almost 3 years, members came and members left, but now they finally are ready for the world.

Heaven’s Basement have just announced a run of warm up shows leading up to their performance at Download Festival and a support tour with Halestorm.
Drummer Chris Rivers took time out from the studio where the band are working on their first full length to send this update:
“As everyone knows we’ve been working on our debut. The finishing line is getting closer for us so when the offer came through for us to go on tour with our friends Halestorm, we only had one answer. It’s the perfect way for us to get back on the touring circuit; we’ll be hitting a lot of places we’ve not been to in 2 years! Mike Portnoy’s Flying Colors announce September European tour

Flying Colors showcases Mike Portnoy (drums, vocals), Dave LaRue (bass), Neal Morse (keyboards, vocals), Casey McPherson (lead vocals, guitar), and Steve Morse (lead guitar). “The album has bits and pieces of what you’d expect from each of us,” says Portnoy. “The sum of all its parts led to brand new, unchartered territory for everyone involved.”
Flying Colors began with a simple idea: virtuoso musicians and a pop singer joining together to make new-fashioned music the old fashioned way. Refreshing, classic, old and new, the songs are saturated with the many styles, tones and hues of the players who in becoming a band have delivered a unique fusion of vintage craftsmanship and contemporary music.
“It was quite an experience making the album,” recalls Dave LaRue. “It’s been an inspiring challenge melding folk, prog, pop and metal into one big recording.”
Mike Portnoy was the co-founding member and drummer for the world’s biggest prog metal band Dream Theater. Neal Morse is the co-founding member of the prog rock bands Spock’s Beard and Transatlantic. David LaRue is the bassist for the Dixie Dregs and has worked with Joe Satriani and Steve Vai. Steve Morse is the lead guitarist for Deep Purple. Casey McPherson is the lead singer for Alpha Rev, who has experienced success on US radio with numerous hit singles including “New Morning”.

New AOR Sensation from Sweden WIGELIUS to debut with “Reinventions” on Frontiers in June
Frontiers Records is excited to present the debut album from WIGELIUS entitled “Reinventions” due for release on June 29th in Europe and July 2nd in North America.
WIGELIUS is a sensational new AOR band from Sweden built around the talent of Anders Wigelius, a gifted young vocalist who came to the attention of producer Daniel Flores (ISSA, THE MURDER OF MY SWEET, MIND’S EYE) after he sung the popular Journey song “Don’t Stop Believin’” in a contest on the national Swedish TV.
A true Melodic Rock / AOR music fan, Anders grew up with music from Richard Marx, Toto, Journey and Foreigner and played AOR songs covers in a band called GAMBLERS, before going his own way with his own thing. “Since I discovered the joy in writing my own songs and I have been doing it since then” says Anders. “The music of Wigelius is powerful and big: it’s a guitar and drums driven sound, with a strong melodies on top. The arrangements are intricate with some theatrical modern parts, and there’s also a more downscaled side to it with emphasis on an acoustic feel. You can hear influences from Toto, Journey, Van Halen and Whitesnake.”.
Anders is in his early 20′s, which is an advantage when creating new ways of marketing modern AOR. He plays guitars and keyboards and also writes music for other bands and has been quite successful with that. His older brother Erik Wigelius, plays drums. This is a hit, hungry, horny and amazingly talented new band, plus they look amazingly good. “I was fortunate to meet some great guys for this band” continues Anders, “but without Daniel Flores, there wouldn’t be Wigelius. We had a blast recording the album and with his experience the songs just kept getting better and better”. The line-up is rounded up by Jake Svensson on guitars and Chris Pettersson on bass.
Wigelius is also all about having fun! Without the enthusiasm for the music and lots of laughs during the process, “Reinventions” would have never sounded as energetic and “big” as it does. The collaboration turned out to be a perfect match of people sharing the same vision in making music together. The best still lie ahead! Everyone in the band is very excited to be a part of it! Harry Hess (ex HAREM SCAREM) mastered the album.

RECKLESS LOVE TAKE OVER THE UK FOR ONE FULL MONTH
Hot off their UK tour with Black Veil Brides and D.R.U.G.S, Finnish rockers Reckless Love have just announced that they will return to the UK in October for a headline tour which includes a residency slot at London’s Barfly.
The band will perform every Thursday in October at London’s prestigious Barfly venue in Camden, harking back to the years when legendary acts such as Guns N’ Roses and Hanoi Rocks would regularly take over London’s marquee club.
Touring the rest of the UK while basing themselves in London, the self-styled Merry Metallers will put on a special weekly show in Camden Town, with each set a unique celebration in its own right.
“We are very exited about this!!” says lead singer Olli Herman. “Our reception in the UK has always been over the top, but because of the busy situation in Finland we’ve felt that the party’s been cut a wee bit short every time we’ve been over. Irish Hard Rock’s finest new band MILLION $ RELOAD to release their second album “A Sinner’s Saint” on Frontiers
Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the signing to the label of MILLION $ RELOAD for the release of the band’s second album entitled “A Sinner’s Saint” on June 29th in Europe and July 2nd in North America.
Formed in Northern Ireland in 2005, Million $ Reload started immediately to learn their breed playing live in the local club circuit leaving behind them a trail of fans hungry for more. Their catchy anthemic tunes soon gained them a recording deal, which culminated with the release of the debut album “Anthems Of A Degeneration” in 2008. A tour-de-force of vast hooks, killer riffs and moments of joyous, snake-hipped abandon, with shades of everyone from AC/DC and Aerosmith through to Thin Lizzy and Thunder confirming that these young Irishmen know their history and salute it with style, while also displaying a powerful and compelling character and atmosphere that is all their own.
“Million Dollar Reload sound is the culmination of our individual influences : no frills, balls to the wall, straight up rock n roll” says singer Phil Conalane. “Loud guitars , big vocals and the odd guitar solo with killer hooks. We have a definite sound, it’s not a new sound and we are not trying to re-invent the wheel, there are no delusions of grandeur in M$R . We know what we are about. All of us have our own personal influences that clearly can be heard in our songs, AC/DC, Aerosmith, early GNR . We don’t try to emulate those bands, we have our own take on modern day rock n roll, but they are definitely a big influence”.
The band toured heavily in support of the album and shared stages with Thunder, The Darkness, Buckcherry, Papa Roach and more. This has further pushed the band’s abilities and focused their songwriting abilities. The result is the new killer album “A Sinner’s Saint” which has sparkled the attention from the Italian label Frontiers Records which immediately signed the band upon hearing the new stuff the Irish five piece created.
Indeed, from blistering, cocksure sing-alongs like “Blow me away”, “Bullets in the sky” and “Wicked”, through to the irresistible bluesy ballad “Broken”, “A Sinner’s Saint” is a flawless exercise in smart, sassy songwriting and a superb showcase for the electrifying chemistry that exists between these five musicians. You can’t keep a band this good, or an album this strong, down for long, and now that they have started to build momentum once again, Million $ Reload must surely be on the road to rock ‘n’ roll glory. LOCAL HEROES The lads packed out the front bar of the legendary St Kilda venue The Esplanade Hotel to launch their EP recently, thrilling the walk-in crowd who had never seen them before as much as their ever-growing legion of devoted fans. Also selling out the Tote a few weeks later.”The songs that we play are just fun,” says Carmody. ”Anyone who likes that ‘feel-good rock n’ roll’ should get right into what our music is about”. From the high-energy strut of ”If We’re Livin’,” to the party anthem “Raise Your Glasses” – both of which are on the debut album release My Dynamite clearly knows how to have a good time. But while the band has been noted as a killer live act with a swagger and mystique that you just can’t buy, there is plentiful heart and
soul at the core of their music.
HEART AND SOUL “The last couple of songs we have written have had a whole lot more heart and soul going into them,” Carmody admits. “You can’t have a 45-minute set that says ‘let’s get drunk and act like animals’ from start to finish’. People will get over it by about half-way through the show. Or pass out. Or we will!” “Lyrically and musically, songs we have written express what is going on in our personal lives directly, and the whole situation around us, the need for more positive vibrations and to keep it real takes first place around our music. We are spreading our wings musically and definitely won’t be pigeonholing ourselves anytime soon.” And the album is a clear indicator of that.
HUMBLE BEGINNINGS
The My Dynamite story started when Carmody joined a rock band that Fraser and Aarons were already in. A friend introduced them to Balas, and he returned the favor by steering his new band mates to a direction which has now become the band’s staple sound. Recent addition Wolf took over Carmody’s guitar duties, allowing the front man to devote all of his attention to giving theaudience an electrifying show. While recently playing alongside Australian rock royalty The Screaming Jets and Rose Tattoo, My Dynamite is ready to carve their own chapter in this country’s rich music history. The Return of Leather Leone and Sandy Sledge on Sledge Leather’s “Imagine Me Alive”
In absence for more than two decades, we embrace new material from Leather Leone (Chastain, Rude Girl, Malibu Barbi) and drummer Sandy Sledge (Rude Girl, Malibu Barbi, Warbride, WeaponsVan) in their new project Sledge Leather.
The Sledge Leather debut album “Imagine Me Alive” was inspired in 2010 when Leather Leone called Sandy Sledge to collaborate on the Ronnie James Dio track “Egypt”for a demo tribute recording. Due to the overwhelming response for more material, Sledge Leather was born and were confirmed for Germany’s Keep it True Festival, April 30, 2011.
Sledge Leather entered the studio in 2011 to record their comeback album “Imagine Me Alive”, engulfing the listener in an onslaught of heavy metal with 11 cohesive tracks that resurrects a classic HEAVY metal sound with Dio’s former band members Scott Warren (keyboards), and Jimmy Bain (bass).
“We wanted to finish what we started with Rude Girl in the ‘80s – straight up heavy a** metal,” Sandy Sledge explains, “This album truly shows the different ways that Leather’s voice can create music.”
Leather Leone comments: “It’s great for me to finally have a huge say in what’s written and how it’s written. With Sledge, I feel like it’s writing with a soulmate — same beliefs, same ideas — because we are writing what comes to us naturally and what comes to us naturally is HEAVY music. This is metal. It’s just ‘metal.’ Heavy, metal.”
Respected industry friends Mike Varney and Monte Connor comment on Sledge Leather.
“Sledge and Leather are the most powerful team of female rockers on the metal scene today,” says Mike Varney, founder of Shrapnel Records.
”Leather sounds as great as she ever did and kicks even more ass than she did in the ‘80s!,” says Monte Connor of Roadrunner Records.

Bible Of The Devil’s sixth full-length album and third for Rome, Italy, based label Cruz Del Sur Music, For the Love of Thugs and Fools, is an assembly of raging Rock n’ Roll songs that encapsulate the band’s saga musically and personally over the years since the last full-length. Returning to Phantom Manor studios in Chicago to work with engineer Mike Lust, who has engineered numerous BOTD recordings in the past, the band sought to emphasize their trademark bludgeoning two-guitar attack and mammoth hooks with an increased
attention to soaring, anthemic vocals. For the Love of Thugs and Fools is viewed by the band as a document of the many characters they have encountered through the life of the band, whether it be in love, loss, friendship, or hatred. Having toured extensively throughout the United States and Europe since the band’s inception in late 1999 and living in the volatile urban environment Chicago, where encounters with crime, violence, and ‘street justice’ are unavoidable, there has been much subject matter for the band to draw from.
Embracing the philosophy that a bottle of whiskey and some loud guitar is often the best cure available for these challenges and ordeals, Bible of the Devil have chosen to document their grievances in the form of one devastating Rock n’ Roll platter. Said singer/guitarist Mark Hoffmann, “The few years since the last full-length have been like a dare. A dare to create a soaring, punishing Rock n’ Roll record of this magnitude. It is a dare that we have been forced to answer ourselves.” Fans of Bible of the Devil can expect yet another collection of fist-pumping heavy guitar classics-in-the-making, For the Love of Thugs and Fools.

Bible of the Devil is a four-piece high-intensity Rock n’ Roll Metal band from Chicago, Illinois. With numerous albums and 7″ singles to their credit, the band has carved themselves quite a niche in the heavy rock underground over the past 13 years as carriers of the flame of classic, loud, hook-filled guitar rock, yet with their own modern interpretation.
The band has toured the United States and mainland Europe extensively during this period, and continue to do so in 2012, whether or not Mayan predictions of an apocalypse prove to be true.
